My one gripe right now is that the Wii games are too expensive for me, because I’m broke, or rather, there are more important things… BUT, I have discovered the joys of renting games, thanks to Mary and Tina (who happened to drop that into conversation one day on the phone) and Mary who, of course, already knew it was possible but didn’t know that I didn’t know so never brought it up… any way, I digress…
The closest Hollywood Videos store is a short walk from our house, so all is good. My plan is to rent each game and build a list of the games I definitely want to own.
Anyway, on with the list:
1. Wii Sports: Came bundled with the console. Has five games in all – Tennis, Baseball, Bowling, Golf, and Boxing. I love all five, and these alone are enough to provide hours of entertainment. I love all of them almost equally, Tennis because it’s fun (although Matt, who came with the Wii, sucks and I hate getting partnered with him), Baseball because it’s fun and it’s the one game where all your Miis come out with you to play, Bowling because it’s fun, and I love when I toss the ball back and all the Miis do the little jump, Golf because it’s cool, and Mary loves it, and Boxing because it’s fun, it’s a great workout, I haven’t been knocked out yet, and it leaves me with a strange sense of satisfaction. It’s amazing that I am finally taking an interest in sports, just not the actual ones… see it here
2. Wii Play: We bought this to try it and also for the extra Wiimote that came with it. We bought a second numchuck for that Wiimote. We were disappointed. The games were not too much fun, so we quickly sold it, minus the Wiimote of course… see it here
3. Warioware Smooth Moves: We first played this at Dave’s, which as you know from my previous post is where the Wii seed was planted, and I loved it. Renting it was not a disappointment. Awesome fun. The story lines are a little too long for my liking, but the games are fun. I don’t think I even came close to unlocking all the levels. Definitely on my “will probably buy” list. It’s a great party as well as solo game… see it here
4. Rayman’s Raving Rabids: What can I say… the funnest game ever!! I LOVE, ABSOLUTELY love this game. It is definitely fun, and some of the tasks are pretty challenging, and it’s interesting to watch the rabids attitude change as you progress through the levels, but I don’t want to give away the fun parts. You have to play it! I will say that I laughed so hard at the task where you have to pick out who’s singing out of tune, that I almost needed CPR. Too funny. I didn’t get to save all the Globoxes by the time we had to return it, but it’s definitely on my “WILL CRY IF I DON’T BUY” list!!… see it here
So we’re taking a break this week, and then next week it’s back to testing the games. In the meantime, Wii Sports is the game in the house, and Ralphie (my alter Mii) is pummeling a different Mii from Nintendo’s selection of boxers every night.
