This weekend we are visiting Mary’s sister Kathryn in Kentucky. We left Philly Friday morning at about 6am and got into Louisville at about 11am with a brief layover in Detroit, MI. Kathryn, Ethan, and Ely picked us up at the airport, we drove over to the Vet to pick up their new puppy Cocoa Bean who was there getting “fixed”, and then drove to their house.
They live in a beautiful home, in a nice wooded community, very quiet and peaceful. It looks like an awesome place to hike and explore, but the weather has not been conducive to any outdoors activities. The temperatures have been in the high nineties since we got here.
Kathryn’s friend Sarah got here the same day we did, and only left yesterday. We had an awesome fun time just sitting around and talking, and playing games out on the deck in the evenings, including “never have I ever”, where you state something that you’ve never done, and if the other players have done it, they have to take a swig; “two truths and a lie” where you state three things about yourself, two of which are true and one a lie, and the other players have to guess which one is a lie. Those who get it wrong have to take a swig. The other game was “I have…”. In the last game, each person must mention something that they’ve done, and if the other players haven’t done the same thing at any point in their lives, then they have to take a swig. Well… there was a confession about farm animals… but I really shouldn’t go there.
Cool things that have happened so far: we’ve had a great time, relaxing and fun; Kathryn has been a great hostess, feeding us and making sure we’re comfortable; Sarah went to get a tattoo and passed out - heh; Ethan and Ely are cool kids; Ely beat Rayman’s Raving Rabids in two days, more about that in the next post; Mary found out she got 100% in her stats exam and A+ in her Culture & Writing paper.
The rest are out at the skate park and I am here with Cocoa Bean trying to get some work done and blogging, because I am a workaholic and e-addict.
