I start work at the Medical Center on Monday. I dropped off my paperwork at HR yesterday, confirmed that I’m on the list for Monday, and smiled at everyone I met because I am just so excited that I’m finally good to go!! (I think some people must have thought I was crazy, or just having a really good day, which I was).
I also stopped by the school to say hello to my instructors and friends, and had some great conversations. I think this is one of the greatest things about working at the same place I went to school at, that I will always have resources and mentors nearby. I got some excellent advice and a lot of warm hugs, which is always nice.
So now I have two more tasks: Shop for scrubs and dust off my brain.
The shopping for scrubs part sucks, because I hate shopping, especially for clothes. But it shouldn’t be too hard, I don’t have to worry about colors and patterns – navy blue – nice and simple. I know for sure that I don’t want to “dress like the cast of Scrubs”! It always cracks me up when I see those scrubs that are branded Scrubs, after the TV show…lol. But hey, if they’re comfortable, and not too expensive, I just might buy them!!
The second task is to dust off my brain! It feels like it’s been forever, but really it’s only been three months or so since I was on a clinical floor, and my last clinical rotation of nursing school was in the ER, so it shouldn’t be too hard to get back into the swing of things.
I can’t wait!!
