One Week Into the Career…

March 9th, 2008 · No Comments

I survived my first week as an RN, but that doesn’t mean much, because I spent almost all of it in borientation, or fanny warming, as Mary’s mom puts it.  On Friday I got to spend some time in the ER getting my schedule and scavenger hunting, which basically entails getting this long list of stuff, and having to go around the floor and look for it and check it off my list as I found it. Definitely a useful experience, and more interesting than fanny warming. I also met my second preceptor, and I am confident that I will have an excellent experience. I don’t think I could have made better choices if I had had to pick my own preceptors out of the nurses who work the shift I’ll be on for orientation.

Next week the rubber meets the road, starting Tuesday, when I start the formal ER orientation, so that should be interesting and I think exciting.
