The title has nothing to do with anything, I’ve just always wanted to say “meanwhile, back at the farm”… I know, I’m weird.
It’s been a few days since I posted. School is going good, all few days left of it… yeah!! One week of classes left: two lectures on Monday, with a nice official luncheon in between where we get to hobnob with the nurse managers, and then two days of clinical, my very last clinicals (sob sob), and then I have my final cumulative exam on Monday. After that I have my one week of senior elective, where we work a full week schedule with a nurse on a floor of our choice. Each of us gets to work with a preceptor nurse and do whatever we’re comfortable doing and they’re comfortable with us doing. For most of us it will be three twelve-hour shifts. As of now I am scheduled to do my senior elective on the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), but that might change in the next few days. There are some things brewing in the “where shall I work” pot, but I don’t want to lay them all out just yet. After the senior elective, it’s graduation day!! I can hardly believe it!! It’s exciting as anything can be!!!
So that’s what cooking with school. On the job front, I’ve had two more interviews. I already had an interview with the ICU, but in the days just preceding Thanksgiving I interviewed with the PCU (Progressive Care Unit), and the ER. The PCU is basically a step-down unit for patients who are still seriously ill but not critical enough to be in the ICU, and not stable enough to be on the other floors. The two front-runners now are the ICU and the ER. I do have a job offer on the table, but I have some thinking to do before I commit to anything.
On the home front, we spent this weekend working on the bathroom, re-trimming, re-molding, and re-painting. It’s looking good so far, we still have a couple more coats of paint to put on, and then we’ll put everything back in place. While at Home Depot yesterday to buy wood, molding, and stuff, we ran into a Gas Grill with a wonderfully low price, and it begged us to give it a home. What with our soft hearts and all we really couldn’t say no, so we now have a nice new gas grill sitting in the back (we assembled it in between waiting for primer to dry), and dinner is getting grilled tonight!! Doesn’t matter that it’s 36 degrees outside, that’s what the firepit is for!!
Not much else is new, just counting down the days to graduation!
PS: I am accepting gifts. Amazon wish list on the sidebar… hint hint hint…
