I haven’t posted on any happenings in a while, so here I am. Life has been good, busy, but good.
We went to Maine for Labor Day weekend, and had a good time. I have photos but I’m having tech issues so I’ll post them later. We left on Friday afternoon after my class and drove about 7 hours. We stopped at Arundel (near Kennebunk) to see Mary’s dad. As always it was a nice chill evening, we made dinner, and sat around and talked. The next morning we drove to Portland and spent most of the day with Mary’s mom, running errands, and catching up on news and stuff. It was great because I got to pick her brain on some Nursing stuff, and got some ideas on case studies I was working on. We ate at Becky’s diner - every single time I have gone to Maine I have eaten at Becky’s diner. It’s really changed since I was last there, they now have an upstairs seating section with a deck. We sat on the deck and the view of the water was awesome… perfect for a Summer day. The food is great, and it’s definitely a place you want to check out if you’re ever in Portland, Maine. Make sure you try the Hobson’s Wharf Special. Becky’s diner is located at 390 Commercial St, Portland, ME 04101.
We also got to see the new People’s Free Space (http://www.peoplesfreespace.org/) and talked to Jonah a bit about all the stuff they’re doing. The new offices look great, spacious with lots of natural light. If you’re ever in Portland, drop in and see all the good work that they’re doing. They are at 144 Cumberland Ave. Portland, ME and their open hours are Wednesday-Saturday 12-6pm.
Mary and I then went to visit Dave and Celeste. It was Dave’s birthday so we picked up some goodies and had a nice dinner together. What was really cool though was the motorbike rides. Not that Dave’s birthday isn’t cool, but he took us out on rides on his motorbikes and it was sooooo much fun. I discovered that I’m a speed junkie!! That was fun. After a nice dinner and lots of old-man jokes, we said Goodnight and drove back into Portland where Mary found us a nice room to crash.
Sunday morning, after seeing Margaret, Adam and the kids, we left Portland, stopped for a couple of hours in Kittery to say hello to Mary’s grandma, and then drove back to Philly. We did make a stop in NH to get some tax-free wine and stuff, but otherwise it was a nice uneventful drive.
I will post the pics we took as soon as I sort out my tech issues and get myself back in the game.
