This post is a little late because someone (a Grad Student whose name is very much like mine) hijacked my laptop for the weekend and I was going through major withdrawal symptoms! Yay for her paper being finally done… I think Grad School is oppressive and I need an “Ulterior Space to find alternatives and escape the tyranny” (inside joke) of having to write write write!! I was able to sneak a few moments to glance at my emails when the aforementioned grad student took bathroom breaks but it obvioulsy wasn’t long enough to write a blog post, so here we are, a day late.
So yesterday morning we took the bike out for an early morning ride. We took off at 5:30am with Mary driving and me doing the passenger thing. We rode around the neighborhood some and then headed out to Columbus Blvd where we easily got up to 45mph. We then took Dock St to 2nd St to the South St area. The scooter handled the cobblestone streets pretty well even at a 10mph drag, wasn’t too rough or bumpy at all. Then we went all the way down 2nd St to Washington Ave and took that to 20th and then headed north to the Art Museum area. It was a great choice of routes because we hit a bunch of traffic lights and it was cool to see how the bike handled as we started and stopped numerous times. Mary made sure to hit a number of bumpy spots and potholes and it handled all pretty well.
We then headed East on Spring Garden and finally meandered home via various neighborhoods. Great ride!! Next we plan to hit the interstate, probably go for a much longer ride and see what kind of mileage we get.
What fun! Can’t wait to get my license.
Incidentally, I need to give the bike a name, according to Mary’s mom… not sure what to call it/her/him?
