We have so much basil… we don’t know what to do with it. Just three plants in our back patio have yielded such a great harvest that we can’t wait to see how our other basil plants in the community plot do.
Two weeks ago we picked some and made basil pizza. The four of us in the house each made one pizza (small ones of course) and each person got to customize their pizza like they wanted, but the rule was they all had to have basil on them, because it was a basil pizza day. They were all fantastic.
We’ve been using the basil periodically for cooking since, and today Mary and I made a tomato sauce over pasta. We used canned tomatoes because ours aren’t quite ready yet, added onions and garlic, and then threw in the basil and parsley from the back patio garden, plus some dried sage from last year’s harvest. Some hot peppers sealed the deal to make a wonderful tasty dish, with Mary’s signature - perfect flavor!!
We’re probably going to start drying some of the basil like we did with the sage last year, so if you want some basil, talk to me… I’ve got plenty!!
