Mary’s Pad

Yesterday, we drove out of the city for another weekend at Indian Lake. This time it’s just the four us, Jon, Hadassah, Mary, and me. J & H took the train down from NY, we picked them up at Amtrak, and left the city. We decided, on the spur of the moment, to take a detour to go to Shady Maple in Lancaster County. Mary and I have been there before, but J & H hadn’t, so we figured we’d stop there, look around in the different furniture stores, have dinner at the Shady Maple Smorgasbord, and do some food shopping, so we wouldn’t worry about cooking when we got to the house.

The Shady Maple Smorgasbord is an amazing place to get a meal. It seats at least 1200 people in the dining area and 1000 in the banquet room. The food is great, fresh, tasty, yum! It’s an unbelievable experience. There are no huge TVs blaring in the background, no annoying music, just a fellow who walks around with his accordion and plays a few tunes. The atmosphere is very calming and soothing, and you’re sure to enjoy your meal.

After the meal we walked around the gift store downstairs a little, and then went over to the market and bought some food to bring with us to the house. We got here just after midnight, and went to bed.

Today has been a chill day, J went Kayaking, and the rest of us have just been hanging around. Mary is doing her schoolwork, and I’m having fun playing on my laptop. We set up the Wii and played some, and I plan to play some more later, and tomorrow.

It’s great being away from the big bad city!
