Today we revisited the Kelly Drive loop. We walked 2.5 miles from the Art Museum to Strawberry Mansion, which is about double what we did last time. We set out earlier this time, leaving the house at 9am. We packed some snacks, two nalgene bottles filled with ice and water, and two books. We stopped at the garden and watered the veggies, which are doing really well, and then had breakfast at a diner on Girard before heading to Fairmount Park.
The weather was fantastic, sunny, beautiful, hot but with a nice breeze blowing. There was a lot of stuff going on today. Tomorrow there is a big bike ride (Philadelphia International Championship) so they were setting up for that, and there was also dragon boat racing. It was great with all the people and all the life and vibrancy that was present. I felt alive and happy and clear-headed. I could have done with less heat, but it was nice.
Speaking of the heat, I did have some more weird symptoms, not as bad as last time, but definitely not good. Once again it happened as we were walking back, started with a strange feeling of deja vu, and was preceded by a mild headache. Today I was mostly feeling hot and weak, very weak. My knees were buckling, just like last time, I was feeling disoriented and having mild hallucinations, and my speech was slurred. Mary was wonderful, encouraging (and sometimes threatening) me until we made it back to the car. At some point she asked a cop to give us a ride to get us closer to our car.
Again, after resting a bit I am feeling back to myself, except that I am still hot (but it’s hot outside). Mary has threatened me that we will not walk the loop again unless I see a doctor, but I know I am reacting to the heat. When I was a kid I used to react really badly to the heat, so I’m not too worried. What I need to figure out is how to prevent this from happening. I was able to go much farther today, so that’s encouraging. Hopefully I can get Mary to change her mind, because I really enjoy this walk, and I still have about 6 miles of the loop to conquer!!
For now, we are off to the garden to do some weeding. Update coming soon, with more pictures, courtesy of Mike!

AHHHH! Marys, your garden looks beautiful! Mike’s not bad either, hahaha!!! I’d love to help if you need me. My garden’s doing well. I have squash, cucumber, tomatoes(jersey of course), radishes, peas (snow, green, and stringless), pepper (hot and purple), zucchini, watermelon, pumpkin, gourdes, carrots, radishes, and yeah I think that’s it. You guys are more than welcome at any time to visit. I miss both of you. Love, Chris

Yo Chris! Sounds like you have some major gardening going on!! I would love to grow some watermelon too and pumpkin, maybe next year. Cilantro and scallions are the two things we regret not being able to grow this year, and onions too.
I have to come and sample your harvest when it’s ready, and I hope you plan to make your way to Philly soon. We’re planning to have a little something in our back patio and grill some veggies from the garden - YEAH!
